Experts disappointed by minor tweaks to pandemic plan

The Ministry of Health has quietly released an “interim update” to New Zealand’s pandemic plan for the first time since 2017, incorporating the health system reforms and high-level lessons from Covid-19.
Epidemiologists have warned, however, that the new plan is too similar to its predecessor which almost led New Zealand down the wrong path in the early days of the pandemic. The health ministry said a more fulsome revision of the plan will follow the report back of the Royal Commission into the Covid-19 response.
